    The  Jaundiced Eye is the monniker of William Saunderson-Meyer, who writes a weekly current affairs column that appears in three South African newspapers ansd on the Politicsweb site. It's been continuously published since 1993, making it the country's longest running column. It takes a sceptical but balanced look at developments not only in southern Africa, but elsewhere in the world.

Saunderson-Meyer began his newspaper career on South Africa’s Rand Daily Mail and Sunday Tribune, was a visiting fellow in journalism at Oxford, and worked on several London newspapers, including three years at the Financial Times. He returned to South Africa in 1993, when Jaundiced Eye — winner of the Caldwell Foundation award for ‘fearless commentary’ — was launched. Educated in Zambia, South Africa and Australia, he holds an MSc in Management from Oxford University.
